Currently the NAID website in North America receives on average about 8,000 visits per month. NAID-Australasia will use the same techniques to promote its website and expects to achieve the same success.

• Information Destruction Practice Standards which are compliant with the Data Protection Directives and are designed for distribution to current and prospective customers.

NAID Certification

As a part of the international group of NAID members, NAID-Australasia provides a voluntary certification programme to members which gives their customers confidence that they meet a set of internationally recognised standards established to protect security.

Government Relations

One of the most critical purposes of any industry trade association is to represent its members' interests in matters of public policy, laws and regulations. NAID in various regions has had impressive success in developing strong relationships with lawmakers and regulators.

NAID-Australasia acts as the unified voice of the industry, commenting on behalf of the secure document and information destruction industry on industry related issues and events as they arise. This ensures the advancement and credibility of the industry and its members and advances the industry's message about the need for secure document and information destruction.

Ethics Enforcement

One of NAID-Australasia's most important services to its members is the ability to hold all industry participants to high ethical standards and truthfulness. NAID-Australasia will sanction any company, member or not, that is found to be misleading the public or otherwise engaging in unethical behaviour in violation of the Code of Ethics.

Why internal shredding or recycling is not a secure means of documents destruction

Internal shredding or simply recycling is not an adequate or cost effective alternative for information destruction. In fact, internal shredding can increase the exposure of sensitive information to theft either within or outside the organization as scanning software is readily available which is capable of reconstructing the materials after theft from recycling bins.
